BSA Museum announces December Merit Badge Sessions

THE BSA MUSEUM HAS POSTED DECEMBER MERIT BADGES OPPORTUNITIES.  THEY INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:  Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the Community, American Cultures, Salesmanship, Reading, Art, Energy, Soil & Water and Oceanography.The cost of the workshop Is $20.  The National Scouting Museum is located at 1329 W. Walnut Hill Lane, Irving, Texas 75038.  To enroll, please call Elaine Bressman at 972-580-2466.  You will need to provide the following information Scout Name, Troop number, phone number, and email address.  If you choose to do a program through the Museum, please send a request to Ms. Crank to open a blue card for the merit badge.  Merit Badges taken at the Museum require the Scout Masters signature on the blue cards to sign-up.

Current and former Scouts, age 14 to 19, can write a short essay (800 words or fewer) for a chance to win $1,000 for themselves and $500 for their Scout unit.

$250 SAT and ACT College Test Prep Programs Available to Boy Scouts for Under $20

Boy Scouts of America and eKnowledge are providing a resource by offering a nearly free SAT and ACT test preparation programs (online and/or DVD) and textbooks.  Supported by caring professional athletes from the NFL and MLB, eKnowledge is offering $200-$250 PowerPrep Programs for just the cost of providing the programs (under $20).  The fee covers everything, including:  materials, shipping, student support, and streaming.  You may request your programs online:

In order to keep the Troop Records as accurate as possible, we need your help! When you participate in an OA event, special event, or any other Scouting event, please email Mrs. Crank at with the information so that we may give you the appropriate credit!

We had a great turn-out on Wednesday to discover all about the 2015 trip to Philmont Scout Ranch.  Attached in the powerpoint that was shared.  There is still room for those Scouts 14+ and adult advisors that wish to experience all that Philmont has to offer.  Trip dates are June 11-24, 2015 and first major payment ($377.50) to Philmont is due this month - Please bring your payment to the COH this weekend or next troop meeting on Monday 9/15.  Contact Mr. Henderson for more information.
